  DubsTech/DesignBuddies Protothon 2023💭 As part of a team, I actively contribute my UX expertise to ensure that user needs and goals are at the forefront of the design process. In a designathon, time is of the essence, which means quick decision-making and effective communication are crucial. I engaged in intense brainstorming sessions and ideation exercises to generate innovative concepts and solutions. The ability to think on my feet, adapt to changing circumstances, and collaborate efficiently allows us to push the boundaries of what's possible within the given time constraints. I was also working with other designers in other time zones. This was slightly challenging. I had to do this with a previous designathon as well. Our team chose the FemTech Track.  Jumpstart Designathon 2023     SB Creative Lab Our challenge was to design a mobile app that  facilitates authentic connections and builds genuine relationships between college students -- providing an interesting yet safe experience to engage with other students. LinkUp aims to assist college students in creating authentic connections. Using a matching system, our platform pairs users with like-minded individuals they are most likely to bond with and build a meaningful relationship that lasts. To ensure users' safety and encourage genuine connections, we've implemented a level system. The first two levels are conducted online, allowing users to get to know each other thoroughly by engaging in extended conversations. UI/UX Designathon Catalyst 2023 Forge Boston University Catalyst is a virtual, UI/UX designation that aims to challenge participants to explore how design, innovation, and community interact. Across 3 days , my team collaborated to solve a design challenge and build a prototype of an app or a website that addresses modern-day problems.  What is the problem the solution addresses: When traveling, it's difficult to be connected to your surroundings and try new things because little you know/are aware of. There's a disconnect between travelers and the new places they go to, because of their lack of information. Any information is a drag to access, and that time is better off experiencing new things.  MICA Grassroots DesignFest 💭 Maryland Art Place/UnderBar In preparation for the reopening of the new UnderBar location beneath Maryland Art Place, my assignment was to design a logo that would represent the establishment. With an expected opening date of August 2023, I focused on creating a captivating and memorable logo that would reflect the essence of UnderBar and resonate with its target audience.  As part of the process, I was responsible for developing a comprehensive style guide, which outlined the visual elements and guidelines for maintaining a consistent brand identity.   Intro Day UX Design: BrainStation NYC 💭 I wanted to learn as much as I could about UX. I found Brainstation NYC was having a UX Intro Day.  BrainStation's Intro Day is an immersive, one-day learning experience, designed to provide individuals interested in tech with the opportunity to explore bootcamp learning. The instructors lead me through a hands-on workshop that mirrors the real bootcamp experience at BrainStation. I was able to learn UX fundamentals, while getting a feel for their teaching style and curriculum.      During this experience, I had the opportunity to learn valuable skills in group work and collaboration while participating in the design process for an app. This hands-on project allowed me to gain a solid foundation in UX fundamentals, enabling me to approach design challenges with a user-centric mindset. DemocracyLab Hackathon NorthWest Fruit (Orchard and Ecological Research Center)   As a new UX designer, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in the DemocracyLab Hackathon, focusing on the NorthWest Fruit project—a collaborative effort involving an Orchard and Ecological Research Center. Throughout this experience , I was able to see how the agile progress is done. I was moving to New Jersey around this time and I wasn't able to finish through with the project but. Being so new to UX, I was happy that I got this opportunity to help out with ideas and concepts. I immersed myself in designing user experiences that aimed to enhance the interaction between visitors, researchers, and the fruit orchard environment. It was an exhilarating experience to contribute my skills to a project that promotes sustainability, education, and the preservation of natural resources, all while gaining valuable insights and honing my UX design abilities.
